Ashley + Nik Daftary Wedding
Missouri Botanical Gardens Wedding | Spink Pavilion
April 6, 2018
Sometimes I get the ultimate privilege to meet new people that I probably would never meet if it weren’t for this lovely career of mine. Ashley + Nik live in Reno, NV and I’m down in Southern Mississippi but we all came together on an insanely gorgeous spring day in St Louis, MO. Their day was intimate, sweet and the epitome of romance. A brunch wedding with only their closest family and surrounded by waffles and enchiladas. Freaking amazing!!
There were so many special moments, but my favorite was just allowing Nik & Ashley to embrace their time and the day (seriously, everyone should have brunch weddings, they have the WHOLE day of bliss!! I’m obsessed!) The weather was perfect and we were blessed with an hour of time with just the bride and groom, and a gorgeous garden to roam around in. Gah! The best day ever! Thank you so much for choosing me, I cannot wait to see your marriage grow! All my love! Misty

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
Ashley: Everything! However, a few things really stand out: 1) Seeing Nik for the first time and walking through the gardens taking photos 2) Nik asking me to spend a minute together before the ceremony to center ourselves to 3) Tears of joy streaming down my face as I walked down the aisle 4) Rev. Judy singing the first part of our reading “Nature Boy.”
Nik: Wait, doesn’t the whole we’re getting married today count as the most memorable moment?! If not then, I’d have to say the first look photos. Ashley kept telling me how plain her wedding dress was. Well, when I first saw her, I realized at that moment that she had no idea what she was talking about – she was gorgeous. After that, my next favorite moment was exchanging vows. This is made everything real – even though nothing tangibly changed between us. There was something very special about the presence and intentionality of that moment. Finally, my last favorite moment was after we all ate, we all walked through the Climatron. It was like we all took a large family vacation together to paradise 🙂
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
When Misty asked Nik to whisper the alphabet as seductively as possible into my ear for one of the photos – we couldn’t stop laughing!!
What is one piece of advice you’d give to a couple planning their wedding?
Think about what you want for your wedding day, not what you don’t want. Focus on the simple themes that you want, and then all the details will easily fall into place. Stay present and enjoy every moment!
Where did/will you go on your honeymoon?
We haven’t gone anywhere yet but we have had lots of adventures prior to the wedding and plan on many more to come. We went to three consecutive weddings the three weekends prior to our wedding. This summer Nik is joining me in Ireland for a work conference. We are planning to go to Barcelona this fall. We also hope to fit in a romantic getaway just the two of us sometime soon.
